Since the pre-patch, I can't seem to get floating combat text working.
I'm looking for the numbers that pop up over a character when you deal damage or heal them, not the scrolling numbers that appear around the character. (I did find that in the interface options, but it doesn't seem to show any damage numbers, just healing)
I've purged my addon folders and the issue still persists.
Anyone have any idea?

Same. I turned off all add-ons and tried checking 'scrolling combat text for self' in interface options. Still can't see damage over my target's head.
This is very odd as my friends can see theirs.

Same issues on Mac OS.
Worked fine all Tues then Wed morning, not working.

Mine was working after the patch, then I decided to rename my wtf/interface folders and start from scratch with a new UI and combat text no longer works, I have no SCT addons installed that could effect it. :/
You can download AdvancedInterfaceOptions on curse and adjust the CVaR for the text to make it appear, or edit it yourself
Found a temp solution - typing /console floatingCombatTextCombatDamage 1 will put the numbers back on screen - but it doesnt save when you log out however.
Kazecap,
That did the trick! I sure am glad Blizz made the UI easier to use. /sarcasm

Same problem here, when I first logged in it was working fine, but now after I updated a few addons its not working anymore, and idk what to do, I've tried to disable all the addons but it does not help.

It works! As you said until you relog.. (which isn't great)
However, /console floatingCombatTextCombatHealing 1 doesn't seem to work..
Also, @Napharius, I also tried this, and it doesn't seem to help.
Anyone find a solution that persists through log out and includes healing?

Would love to know this about healing! Even a temporary/nonpermanent fix would be really great.
I'm still waiting for a definitive answer also.
The heal floating combat text was great!

As far as I know Blizzard removed the option in Interface to enable/disable damage and healing text.
As mentioned,
/console floatingCombatTextCombatHealing 1
and
/console floatingCombatTextCombatDamage 1
Can be used to toggle the damage and healing on.
For those of you saying that you are having it get reset every time you log off, it is likely an addon causing this. I personally went through the LUA files of my scrolling combat text addon to discover it was being toggled off automatically by the addon.
Get AdvancedInterfaceOptions to toggle it on/off if you don't want to rely on using the script. It can be found under the CVar browser. Click the value of each and make sure its set to 1.

Okay. I think I found a fix. I was missing my pet text rather than my own damage text. To fix this, I had disabled all addons, and then went into my C:/Program Files(x86)/World of Warcraft/WTF/Account/Account#/config-cache.wtf (open this with your favorite word editor).
Look for these settings:
Make sure all the floating combat text is set to 1. (Or similar to mine. You can change settings as you see fit.)
This worked for me. Now if only I can find out how to get it bigger and stay on longer
Look for these settings:
SET floatingCombatTextCombatDamageAllAutos '1'
SET floatingCombatTextCombatDamageDirectionalOffset '1'
SET floatingCombatTextCombatDamageDirectionalScale '1'
SET floatingCombatTextCombatLogPeriodicSpells '1'
SET floatingCombatTextPetMeleeDamage '1'
SET floatingCombatTextPetSpellDamage '1'
SET floatingCombatTextCombatHealingAbsorbTarget '1'
SET floatingCombatTextCombatHealingAbsorbSelf '1'
SET floatingCombatTextFloatMode '3'
SET floatingCombatTextReactives '0'
SET floatingCombatTextLowManaHealth '0'

Kalixy's method in the post directly above worked for me. I was having a problem getting damage and healing text to remain after a /reload, but he got it fixed up.
To add if you try his method and dont see the options he has listed in your config-cache.wtf just copypaste what he has listed and it may work for you. That's what I had to do.

Is it prompting you to open it with a program? Open it up with a word editor if possible. Tell in detail what's happening so I can try to help and if I can't help maybe someone else can.
blizz got rid of a bunch of options from the interface/character menu. someone else mentioned it, but download the addon 'advancedInterfaceoptions' from curse and you will get them all back, including the combat text options (which numbers you want, which way they float, etc) or you can use Mikes Scrolling Battle Text, which has much more customization.
Also, if you want to see your character stats, like we used to be able to, when you press 'C' get the addon 'DejaCharacterStats'
blizz must think we are really stupid

There were no floatingcombat settings in my .WTF file. What should I do?
You should be able to manually copy/paste them in.
How To Turn On Floating Combat Text Wow
You should be able to manually copy/paste them in.
That worked on my demon, but the healing numbers still dont show up for my toon.

So since the pre-patch whenever I'm in combat the FCT is not appearing. I've tried to remedy this by disabling addons, reseting the interface, removing cache, downloading the advanced interface options addon, and using a console command.
So far the only fix was using '/console floatingCombatTextCombatDamage 1'. However, this is only temporary, as the problem returns whenever I relog or reload the UI.
Any help would be appreciated~ Color efex pro 4 serial.
EDIT: forgot that I tried advanced interface options addon too.
ANOTHER EDIT: So I went into the WoW folder to edit the config-cache.wtf to change the floatingCombatTextCombatDamage '0' to '1'. However, everytime I enter the game it changes to config-cache.old and a new config-cache.wtf takes its place. Weird.
ANOTHER EDIT: Fixed it! Apparently it had something to do with the addon 'mik's scrolling combat text'. It kept re-writing the code that I put to reset the UI. I'm guessing it has something to do with the pre-patch. I deleted the addon and in the config-cache.wtf file I put the floatingCombatTextCombatDamage '1' again. It worked!
